Exchange programme
At the TU Berlin there are cooperations with over 200 foreign universities. This offers students the possibility to study abroad. The participation in exchange programmes is usually linked with a scholarship and the abatement of tuition fees in the foreign country. The duration of stay varies from three to twelve months.
A number of funding bodies provide financing for a study visit abroad:
- German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
- European Commission (Sokrates/Erasmus)
- Exchange Programmes at the Technical University of Berlin
These scholarship programmes vary in
- basic principles
- scholarship benefits
- selection procedures
- application documents
- closing dates for applications
Of course every student can independently plan and arrange a study visit abroad beside the exchange programmes. The Academic bureau for exchanges ('Akademisches Auslandsamt') assists in the preparation of stays abroad, informs about different university systems and university types, entrance requirements and questions of approval, names points of contact and funding bodies and provides information material.
Sokrates/Erasmus [1]
Within the
exchange programme of ERASMUS and SOKRATES students at the TU Berlin
can also study abroad at one of the partner universities. The
scholarships for landscape planning of ERASUMS/SOKRATES apply only for
the named partner universities. Stays at other universities in Europe
can not be supported with this exchange programme. Under specific
circumstances landscape planning students are able to study at other
partner universities with the support from contingents of other
fields.
Further information about years abroad and about ERASMUS
and SOKRATES, including a list with partner universites, are provided
at the website of the Academic Bureau for Exchange ('Akademisches
Auslandsamt') [2].
ASA Programme: Working and study stay in Africa South
America and Asia [3]
Within the ASA-Programme young
Europeans work and learn at an organisation with development policy in
Africa, Asia, Latin America or South East Europe. ASA prepares the
participants, finances the travel costs and allocates a scholarship
for the duration of stay. Everybody between 21 and 30 years old with a
complete non-academic apprenticeship or studying can
apply.
