Description
With the implementation of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in the German Federal Building Act and the German Environmental Impact Assessment Act it is necessary to assess the environmental effects of certain plans and programs.
Currently the methodological framework for the environmental evaluation of the preparatory development and landscape-planning process, developed by the Technical University of Berlin in cooperation with the Senate Department for Urban Development of Berlin in 2006, is transformed into an interdisciplinary IT-based assessment application. Purpose is to provide a comprehensible, methodical, standardised and data processing assessment of areas according to specific environmental assets. This should be accomplished by integration of up-to-date data of the city of Berlin. The assessment information need to be prepared for different kinds of users and data management processes, e.g. the potential building area management of the Senate Department for Urban Development of Berlin, as a GIS based SEA management system.
